When our agency was approached to assist with the grand opening of the first Duck Donuts in Louisville, KY, we couldn’t be more excited! Originating in Duck, North Carolina, in 2007, Duck Donuts quickly grew to almost 100 open franchise locations with more than 145 contracts across 27 states and four countries.

On top of traditional PR, our team had the special task of highlighting this opening as the company’s 100th location. Our goal was to handle all PR and media for the official ribbon cutting and grand opening, secure community relationships and influencer partnerships, and raise brand awareness through strategic social media content and graphic design.

Despite opening on a cold Winter morning, the Duck Donuts official grand opening and ribbon cutting was a huge success. Customers lined up, even camped out, to try their warm, made-to-order donuts plus a chance to win free donuts for a year in honor of their 100th opening. Our team successfully secured pre and day-of coverage from all four local stations (WAVE3, WDRB, WHAS11, and WLKY) as well as Courier Journal, Louisville business First and more. Pre-coverage included on-set appearances, interviews, and special VIP tours for media personnel, local and regional social media influencers, etc.

In an effort to align Duck Donut’s Community Outreach Program “Quack Gives Back” with the Louisville market, our team helped to identify and lock in partnerships with local organizations for the grand opening and beyond. For the opening, our team connected Duck Donuts with Harbour House of Louisville, a nonprofit who is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through employment, self-determination, education and community building opportunities, to receive its inaugural Quack Gives Back donation. Our team also worked closely with local and regional influencers to secure coverage on their personal platforms before and after the store opening.

Our social media team works on an on-going basis to keep Duck Donuts relevant and on-brand. With Louisville being such a saturated market when it comes to local restaurants, it was extremely important that we get creative to help differentiate them from their competitors. Through ongoing social media, graphic design, and community partnerships we have built an impressive following on their page with high interaction and engagement.
